Michelle Stone was first elected to the Marion County Board of County Commissioners in 2016 after having served 30+ years in the banking/financial industry. Since becoming elected she has used her financial knowledge and learned government experience to offer a better way of doing business and serving the community.

Michelle graduated from the Florida School of Banking at UF and earned her Commercial Lending Diploma from Risk Management Associates School of Commercial Lending through UCF. She has completed specialized training through the Florida Association of Counties in partnership with the University of Florida's IFAS Extension Program.

Michelle's professional involvement includes membership with the National Association of Counties where she serves on the Telecommunications and Technology Policy Steering Committee and the Florida Association of Counties Finance, Tax and Administration and Water and Environmental Sustainability committees. She graduated from 40th Cornerstone Class of Leadership Florida in 2023. 

She is an active board member with several local nonprofit organizations:

• College of Central Florida Foundation
• Hospice of Marion County
• Transitions Life Center
• United Way of Marion County
