Coronavirus Aid, Relief, & Economic Security (CARES) Act

As our communities continue to address the new challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the county commissioners will update residents with the latest information regarding the CARES Act funding allocated to Marion County as it becomes available.

Upon confirming the funding slated for Marion County, we reached out to our city governments, school board, nonprofits, & businesses to share the federal guidelines for reimbursement & the federal government's urgency to infuse our nation's communities with much-needed support.

A federal emergency rental assistance program uses funding administrated through agencies such as the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). Funding assistance may still be available per federal & state guidelines. Review the categories that may apply to you below.

Eligible Purposes Section 5001(d) of the CARES Act provides the eligible purposes for which Coronavirus Relief Fund payments may be used. Specifically, it allows state & local governments to make payments for programs that:

are necessary expenditures incurred due to the public health emergency with respect to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19);
were not accounted for in the budget most recently approved as of the date of enactment (March 27, 2020) of this section for the state or government; &
were incurred during the period that begins on March 1, 2020 & ends on Dec. 30, 2020.
